Description

An English description of the definition (what distinguishes this sense of the term?).

The notion of Family simply makes the commitment that it is a group of people who are connected via the has-spouse or has-child properties. From these, we can derive grandparents, aunts, uncles, etcetera. One question to consider is to what degree the general/extended Family concept makes sense or is useful. After a few generations the concept of a family will become quite large and confusing, with Persons belonging to many different Families. It may be more useful to consider a relatedTo property between Persons, or only defining restricted subclasses of Family; for example, different types of Family (e.g. Immediate, Extended) may be defined.
