Description

An English description of the definition (what distinguishes this sense of the term?).

The City Pattern combines basic information about the: • land area occupied by a city, • administrative areas of the city, e.g., districts, wards, neighbourhoods, and • government organization that runs a city. • City’s Bylaws.

Key Concepts and Classes

A City has the following properties: • schema:legalName: The legal name of the city. • hasLandArea: identifies the spatial areas occupied by the city. • hasGovernment: identifies the GovernmentOrganization that manages the city. • hasBylaw: identifies the bylaws in existence in the city. • hasAdministrativeArea: identifies administrative areas within the city. They do not have to be distinct and can be hierarchical.

A CityAdministrativeArea is an area that has the authority and the power to make administrative or policy decisions. It can be specialized for use by a City to reflect its unique areas such as Districts, Wards, Neighbourhoods, Prefectures, etc. Its properties are similar to a City: • hasName: The name of the area. • hasLandArea: identifies the spatial areas occupied by the area. • hasPopulationSize: number of people living in the area. • hasGovernment: identifies the GovernmentOrganization that manages the area, if any. hasBylaw: identifies the bylaws in existence in the area. hasAdministrativeArea: identifies sub administrative areas with this administrative area. • administrativeAreaOf: identifies administrative areas this administrative area.is part of.
